Question

Samsung FPT5094wx/xaa plasma TV

Jul 20, 2015 5:52PM PDT

I have noticed that the resetting is getting worse, and it has problems powering up. I felt the box transmitter, and the blue light will not come on when this happens, and it gets very hot. I opened it up and blew out the dust, and cleaned the fan. The heat sinks under the fan protect a semiconductor, the fan will not come on. The power supply has been repaired already several years ago, replacing bulging caps. I ordered a power supply board for spare parts if needed, but left the box open and have a fan blowing on it all the time now. Cool as cucumber now, and TV powers up and stays on for hours. I need a fan I guess, or maybe it is not getting a signal to come on. Still could be failing PS caps, but no bulging I can see this time.

Nice save for what looks like a 2008 set.

What I'm finding is that folk, even from the 1950's and on don't keep the dust and such out of the sets. Good news for makers and sellers alike.
