Question

Samsung forum: White dots appearing on my HLT5075SX/XAA

Aug 27, 2012 11:24AM PDT

Same sad story Sad Like everyone else, my 4 year old Samsung HLT5075SX/XAA began developing white spots in the upper left corner. Over the past 2 months, the number has grown to hundreds and the TV is no longer watchable. I noticed that the Samsung support on this forum has been helpful in resolving this same issue with other people. I called the 1800-SAMSUNG number and they said i would have to pay for a part to fix it. Is there anything you can do to help me out?

Thanks,
Shawn

Thank you very much for your help. Samsung sent out an authorized specialist to fix the television free of charge. I am very appreciative of your assistance, especially because football season just started!!!!!!!

HLT6187 TV
Oct 26, 2012 7:58AM PDT

Not everyone trusts so called social sites. Too many security issues. Does Samaung have a public method of contact? I tried their website and was just told that the TV is not on the list. I'm shocked with so many having issues that are pinned on this faulty part that Samsung is not clear itself on what to do.

Some get fixed some don't..... like throwing dice.

black specks
Nov 6, 2012 9:39AM PST

Hd tech, I'm having same problem on my hlt5089s but with black dots. I spoke to a repairman and was told. Its the dmd chip. Samsung told me my model is not covered. I have read in this forum about the hlt6187s which is also not covered but was fixed free of charge. This is getting ridiculous that we have to call numerous times and get the runaround. My ticket # is 4116843474 if you can do anything to help. I'm up to at least 600 black dots on my screen. If they fix that model which is not on list they should start taking care of these other models as well.
Thx

No Joy....

Well per the Ambasador's suggestion here I filled out a service request. The repair shop called and said I should call samsung to see if it would be covered. I did and was told the model was not covered and that it was normal wear and tear. I asked for a supervisor and was told it was not covered even though some others were.

Normal wear and tear life span for a samsung TV is 5 years according to samsung. I have never had a TV that only lasted 5 years. Had I known before I bought it..... I would have passed for a much better quality TV.

When my current bluray players, phones and other samsung appliances bite the dust, I will not be purchasing that brand again. I require quality products and per samsung's own staff they do not provide that quality.

Hopefully this, and many other posts like it, helps to keep other folks from making the same mistake I did. I had assumed samsung was comparpable to other TVs on the market. Even their own staff says they are not.
