Samsung F5500 Smart TV app problems

by lard_lad_22 / February 5, 2014 6:11 AM PST

I have just bought a Samsung UE40F5500 Smart TV, and I can't access apps such as iplayer and netflix.

When on the Apps page I can see the iplayer / netflix icons however they are slightly grayed out and do not launch. I have tried to download netflix via the Samsung apps store but when pressing the 'download' icon nothing happens.

I would be very grateful if someone could please advise what I need to do to access iplayer or netflix?

the TV is connected to the Internet, either wired or wireless? If wireless, did you do the setup with your router password and connection test?

Hi Kees,

I have connected to the internet via wireless using WPS, therefore the router password I assume ?

Thanks so much for your prompt response.

I wonder if that is fully compatible. It seems not. Better call Samsung customer service (1-800-SAMSUNG in the USA) and ask if no good answer comes here.

There are some instances where WPS connects and there is trouble. Rare but given some millions of users and well, let's just go with KISS. Keep It Simple Samsung.

That is, I always want to keep the SSID to simple short alphanumerics. The security to WPA2 AES personal security and again ALPHANUMERICS of a short length. Do not hide the SSID and do not enable router firewalls at first. Even later can create issues that most folk can't deal with.

Sorry I forgot to mention I'm also checking the date and time in all things (TV, PCs and router.)
