Question

Samsung Extender Cable

Feb 26, 2015 6:37AM PST

I just bought a new Samsung smart TV, but I'm not smart enough to make the remote work. I have a Comcast cable box, which is wireless, so it doesn't plug into the TV. Is it possible to use the extender cable under these conditions. I can do without controlling the TV with the remote by just using the Comcast control, but when it comes to using Netflix, it's very, very slow if not impossible to navigate using the Samsung control. Any help would be appreciated.

A home theater person to come out and set it all up. It might take a few things like a Harmony remote or Hub, and maybe a Roku.

Thanks so much for the info, but I had no idea it would get this complicated. I bought another Samsung TV about a year ago. No extender cable, no problem. The remote works fine and Netflix is great. With this TV I have to hire people and buy more equipment? Boy did I make a bad buying decision.

Or Samsung's recent outage is still creating problems.

If the TV is still acting badly, and mind you here in my state you can return it without any loss if it's that bad.

Setup can be complicated by things that don't chat to each other. That's why the Logitech and Roku sell so well. I have the Roku but prefer the Amazon Fire TV for ease of use.

Be sure to try Samsung's remote again.

As to a keyboard, I missed the full model number but the Logitech k400 is pretty popular.

maybe a keyboard is available

It can be a pain to use a remote for netflix. I had to shorten my password and use a shorter email address for netflix on a dvd player that has netflix.

My only suggestion would be to check and see if your specific tv or cable box has a keyboard for an accessory. It would make things a lot easier.
