Samsung DVD H1080 - cannot upgrade firmware

by riton81 / November 3, 2009 9:24 PM PST

I have a Samsung DVD-H1080 player which is great but i have some problems with divx. I see there is a new firmware available from the 11th of May and I want to upgrade but I seem to be having a few problems.
It downloads as a .BIN file but the samsung instructions are all about zip files - I have burned the BIN to a CD in ISO mode, no session, burn slowly, but the player just keeps saying that it can't read the disc - anyone any ideas?
I have tried all sorts of burning software on PC - including ISO9660 (1) and ISO9660(2) only formats - i've also tried ISO / HFS hybrids and joliet formatted discs - they are CDRs so single session and i turn the burn speed option as low as it will go (usually 8x).
I have tried plain burning using my PC and I have tried creating a bootable image with the BIN file - but still the same - i've turned about 6 or 7 CD-Rs into coasters already so does anyone know where I a going wrong?
I also put .BIN on USB pen to upgrade but the file bin was not recognized.

I find my Info MENU who says:
version:09.01.30.01.H1080XAA
sub-ver: 0B.00.00.49
8032 09.01.01.02
servo 2D.07.00.00
risc 0C.01.01.02
dsp 12.99.00.14
code area 2

The file present on site of Samsung is 09.04.06.08.H1080XA A. Maybe there are different version of analog dvd player just like TV LCD.
Any ideas?

thanks!

Good news for all those who even according to the trick of renaming the files have not been able to upgrade. After numerous attempts with various media (CD, CDRW, DVD + RW, etc), recording mode (ISO, UDF & co) and several USB PEN (all brands and all sizes), reading and scrutinizing the guidance of the manual I had this flash:
in screens for identifying the upgrade you mention the file in this way:
09.04.06.08.H1080XAA
At that point I did was download the BIN file from Samsung (H1080A_5A8A_09.04.06.08.H1080XAA.BIN) and I renamed by removing the head (H1080A_5A8A_) and on. BIN end. Exactly so 09.04.06.08.H1080XAA copied on USB pen I finally recognized the upgrade. I hope I have been of help to anyone who had not managed before. Grin

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
