Samsung DLP Volume Bar

Recently my 3 year old TV has begun displaying the volume bar. It goes on and off for a few minutes, then stays on. While it's on, the remote control is unresponsive. The only way I can clear it is by pressing the Menu button on the TV. The problem has nothing to do with the remote control because I have removed the batteries and the problem still occurs.

Any one have this problem, any solutions?
