DoesntWantTrouble,
I'm sorry to hear that you're having this issue.
Unfortunately, units past the warranty are usually subject to an out of pocket expense, as with any consumer good out of warranty. However, there may be some cases where exceptions can be made. To find out, you can contact the service center at 800-SAMSUNG and explain your situation. They'd be able to assist further if something like this would or might be covered outside of the warranty.

Hi, everyone. I know a previous issue like this has occurred and I was wondering if I could get some help:
I have a 56" Samsung HLT5676SX/XAA DLP 1080p TV. I have owned this TV for over 2.5 years now since it came out. It wasn't until about a few weeks ago that whenever I would turn on the tv, the volume would instantly go down to "0" and constantly flicker as though someone is pressing the button thus disabling the function of other buttons - even the power button; I would have to pull the plug from the back.
After reading other articles and discussions, I have come to the conclusion that underneath the side button panel, there is either a defective bezel or substance that is making the "volume down" side button be pressed.
Due to its age, my tv is now out of warranty, and electronic shops and their like are asking $50+ just to come LOOK at it let alone fix it.
The the entire forum: Have you encountered this issue? And if so, have you resolved it without outside resources?
To SAMSUNG: Please help! I love my TV and I would hate to get rid of it for a problem like this. I know I am not the only one on the boat with this issue. Even though my TV is out of warranty, do I qualify for repair because of this "defective" part?
THANK YOU everyone in advance for your help!
