General discussion

Samsung Digital Cam SCD6040

May 1, 2005 1:39PM PDT

When I download to my computer the video successfully transfers but the audio does not. I have used the software (Windows Movie Maker) in the past with analog camcorders. I have also edited film from an analog camera using Pinnacle Studio 8 software but with this new digital camera........it ain't happening.

You should also post you question on the Camcorders Forum.

Here is a link to the Camcorders Forum:

.......................

This hybrid camera can record video on digital tape with the camcorder lens or record video on digital memory with the digital camera lens.

So....which are we talking about here?

I'm not totally versed on this camera's ability as of yet but the mode I am referring to is recordings made to the digital video tape cassette. As I originally stated, I am unable to successfully transfer the audio portion of my recordings. However, during the transfer process, I am able to clearly hear the recording through the camera speaker.

Thanks for you reply,

When I download from my Sony camcorder, I use the firewire connection (Sony calls it iLink). I use Ulead Video Studio 7 to capture the video. I have not had any problem with sound.

I can download with USB, but have not tried it.
You would need USB2 to keep up with the speed of the camera.

If you are using the video/audio cable....you have to connect the audio to the "line-in" connection on the computer sound card. And you have to enable "line-in".

It would be better to post your question on the Camcorders forum. They are more knowledgeable on camcorder problems. Be sure to tell them what cable hookup you are using (firewire, USB2, video/audio).

Thanks again for your input. Your advise is certainly helpful. I'll run additional checks and if I still encounter difficulty, I try posting to the camcorder forum as per your suggestion. Oh, one more thing. Pickledillies is a pretty good site.
Thanks
