Samsung Canada is a scam, screwed us up on the Note 7 recall

May 3, 2017 3:19PM PDT

We (me and my friends) bought 5 pcs of Samsung Note 7 last year. There is a recall on the phone few days after the purchase. We put the new phone on the side (brand new unused)and wait for the replacement phone to arrive. It took 3 weeks to receive the replacement phone, and there is a major recall once we received the replacement phones. Instead of taking S7 edge as replacement, we request for a money back, but they disagreed and kept offering us S7 edge as replacement. The point is we got other phones already, and we don't have the budget to carry two phones at the same time. In addition, S7 edge is a way cheaper phone when compared to Note 7.

We have been sending request back and forth for few months, and one of my friend gave up and he took the offer from Samsung and sent his Note 7 back to get a replacement S7 Edge. Once he sent it back to Samsung, he got this letter from Samsung:

Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for contacting Samsung Note 7 Exchange and Refund Support Team.

Your device and or Samsung Note 7 related and specifically made mobile accessories was originally purchased from an unauthorized seller, reseller respectfully.

This entails that you must refer back to your original place of purchase with your original proof of purchase (sales receipt) to your Authorized Canadian Samsung Dealer/Wireless Carrier to seek further instructions.

Regretfully, our Samsung ENR Support Department is unable to assist you with your specific urgent Note 7 recall matter.

Please kindly contact your specific place of purchase as noted above.

Please note that the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits recalled products from being redistributed, sold or even given away in Canada. As a recalled product, it is mandatory that all Note7 original and replacement devices be returned.

Thank you for your cooperation,

Samsung Note7 Exchange and Refund Support Team

In other words, they kept the Note 7 and not sending anything back to us. It's a known fault from Samsung to have a faulty Note 7. They should refund us on what we have paid and they didn't stand behind their products and making these kind of excuses. Please don't buy anything from Samsung and they don't deserve to sell it so expensive.

That's one of the troubles with grey marker sellers.

I see why they declined but it hurts.

you never said where you purchased the phone from

from what you have written, you did not try to get your money back from the reseller you purchased your phones from. IMO, samsung is doing nothing wrong. for all they know, you did not pay full price for the phones and am trying to get a full priced refund. that is why they said to contact the reseller for the refund.

Grey marketers are like that.

They sell it cheap, tell the buyer the warranty is by the maker and bail. It's a risk you take with them and sometimes you get burned. (ouch, bad pun.)
