Question

Samsung browser settings

We recently purchased a Samsung 55" 6500 smart tv. We love it, great picture and other features. My problem is with the browser. Now I know it isn't a PC and I don't expect it to act like my PC just to be clear. The tv browser only comes up with the colors reversed. All web pages have a black background with white or yellow lettering. What makes it truly unusable is that the pictures on all web pages come up looking like a film negative. Remember film? I have called Samsung support and let the person access my tv by giving him or her the code to do that and they were unable to fix it. I have gone through all the screen settings but cannot get the browser to change. Am I missing something or do I need to demand an exchange on this tv? We bought the tv at Best Buy and purchased their five year warranty plan also.

Sadly only Samsung can fix this one.

If the browser is defective and resets do not clear it up, you have a good reason to return it as DOA (defective on arrival.)

We kinda thought so

Actually they were supposed to deliver a new tv by noon today but I just hate to give up on it so I thought I would check here with people that know more than I do. Anyway it is after noon and so far they are a no show with the replacement tv.

All I know is

That there are few to no settings for this. And it should work out of the box and after resets. To me, this is a defective set or app. Since we can't install apps outside of what Samsung allows or supplies, it's stuck as-is.

Samsung couldn't fix this problem...

I communicated with Samsung via a chat service...and they had no idea how to fix this problem. They had me "resetting my Picture settings....and then suggested I reset the entire TV settings. I refused and got this suggestion from CNET Forum.... Hold down Volume on the remote until Accessibility Shortcuts appears. Change the High Contrast setting to Off...and problem was fixed.
Hope that Samsung reads this so they can help others rather than just making them reset the television setting...NOT A GOOD OPTION SAMSUNG!!

Samsung couldn't fix screen contrast problem

I did follow your info Frank and it WORKED perfectly, Thanks Good Buddy and, I'm sorry but Big Yes; I never got ANYTHING worthwhile from Samsung. I always had better luck with Costco Concierge because that's where I bought the TV however, on this problem your solution was the only solution. Once again Frank many thanks
Cheers,
Al Tesser

This was it, the Accessibility setting for High Contrast

This was it, the Accessibility setting for High Contrast.

I turned it off and the browser works fine now. I liked the way it made the TV show with black background but did not realize it affected the browser until now. I will have to get used to the bright background from now on.

Answer
Your tv

Heck and make sure in your tv settings under accessibility that the “high contrast” is OFF. That’s what fixed the same problem for me not even 5 mins ago.
