Samsung Blue Ray BD-P1600 and Netflix?

The Samsung BD-P1600 Blue Ray player is Netflix "Almost Ready."
By that I mean you can access Netflix but you have to buy a Samsung
WIS09abgn USB wireless adapter. It's not included.

The documentation seems to say that this is the ONLY wireless adapter that is compatible with the BD-P1600. Is this indeed correct?

Also, the documentation also makes mention of a wireless "IP sharer."
Can someone tell me if this is "Samsungese" for wireless router?

Sorry for the mild sarcasm. Samsung makes mighty fine products. It's just a tiny bit annoying that the Netflix feature doesn't have built-in wireless like the ROKU box and don't call a wireless router a wireless router.

I apologize for the misunderstanding. Yes, the WIS09ABGN LinkStick is the only internet connecting device that I'm aware of that will allow you to wirelessly transmit to your router from the BD-P1600.

And yes, the "IP Sharer" is a router.

None of our products this year has a built-in wireless feature, but the BD-P3600 and BD-P4600 have the WIS09ABGN dongle included in the box.

I hope that clears it up a little, and appreciate your kind words about our products.

Hi,

I purchased a 46 LCD TV from Best Buy in March 2008. I did not buy the extended warranty. About a two months ago the screen was fuzzy on the right side and had lines through the screen. I took it to a local service shop and the gentlemen suggested I may need a new LCD Panel, which is half the price of the television's original cost. As I am outside of warranty is there any options? I think it's quite unfortunate to buy a quality TV and to have to buy another TV a little over a year later. I called Samsung before it was diagnosed and they simply told me I was out of warranty and it was my decision to not buy a warranty. It looks like I am better off buying a new TV but how could I possibly give Samsumg my business if they are unwilling to help or bend?

Check with your credit card company. They typically double the manufacturer's warranty up to one additional year.

Then why does it say on the box "Wireless LAN Ready"? Does that not mean "Ready to work on your Wireless LAN" when you take it out of the box, especially when there is nothing on the box that says that you have to purchase additional equipment to MAKE it work with a wireless network?

It seems to me this is nothing less than false advertising. A device is not "ready" unless you can turn it on and connect it, period. Especially if you have to BUY an additional product at a considerable price to make it work, when this is not disclosed anywhere on the packaging at the time of purchase.

Define "Wireless LAN Ready"

Please do pass this up, then, if you are not able or willing to address it.

I would like to know what exactly Samsung defines as "Wireless LAN Ready" and under what standards they/you make that claim when printing it on the box, when it clearly is NOT, under any definition of the words.

Better yet, please provide some DIRECT contact information for your corporate offices where I can follow up on this. Someplace other than your "Customer Care Center" - considering each attempt to talk to someone there has only ended up on my getting hung up on.
