Netflix writes the app but Samsung is a gatekeeper for new versions if Netflix issues such.
The specific browsing you noted has been discussed on the web before. It appears that Netflix didn't quite nail it. Try this on a Roku.

I have had a Samsung Blu Ray Player for a few years now, I haven't had any problems with it till recently. Simply when I run the Netflix app it will load up MyQue/TopPicks/NewReleases/Genres/Search/ETC. So when I go ahead and select Genres it takes me to the next tab of genres, then lets say I want to choose COMEDY.... it should take me to the next tab of Sub-Categories of Comedy (this is what it used to do) BUT now instead I simply choose comedy and the next tab is as if it's sending me back to the first lists of tabs. Then instead of pressing back I trying going through the genre again and it does the same thing again almost just like repeating it self. So this causes not being able to browse the entire Netflix library making the user have to search by name or pick from what the first tabs show.
Device- 5.1 CH Blu-ray Home Theater System HT-C5500
Current Firmware- HTB-C5500WWB-1021.0
-I have performed a full factory reset on the Blu-ray player.
-I have checked for Updates.
-I have checked my Network, it's working.
-I have gone onto my Netflix account and deactivated the Blu-ray then reactivated it, and no fix.
I am unsure of any other solution or if maybe other users are experiencing the same problem. Any thoughts?
