Samsung blu-ray bd-P1000

Feb 5, 2009 2:58PM PST

I have the Samung BD-P1000 and can not play BD-50 discs, I contacted Samsung and got this answer from them.

?The latest Blue Ray Player is BD-P2500. The Model BD-P1000 is not
produced any more.
No one of our Blue Ray Player is able to read double Layer disks. You
can find that in the user manual and in the spezifications on our
Homepage www.samsung.de.
It is not planed to generate a Firmware which makes the reading of
double layer disks possible.?

Your customer id is: 2402445334
It looks like Samsung is backward in there development or the help department is out of touch with the latest types.

Samsung blu-ray bd-P1000 - I hear you
Mar 5, 2009 1:15AM PST

My ID is batman000...I posted a complaint on 2-15...and recieved no word other than "Please submit your unit for service" from Samsung. So I have decided I will boycott Samsung. I will not buy their mobile phones, TVs, DVD players, audio/video items of any kind.

This comes from a guy who has 90% of electronics being Samsung...in truth...I have experienced problems with other items of theirs in the past, but failed to speak up. It is clear they do not wish to respond, which means they could care less. The only way to get them is balking on their products...in this economical landscape, their treatment of their customers is gross negligence...I guess you have seen one gentleman has filed a class-action lawsuit against them for their FAILURE to support...I tell everyone here in Dallas(doing some contract home theater installation on the side) to steer clear of Samsung, and I am happy to announce I have succeeded!

Finally, the SUPPORT FORUM GUY from Samsung has not replied ONCE to my thread. I use that as exhibit A on why i will not spend one penny on Samsung anymore.

I am sorry you are having the problem...we who in GOOD FAITH trusted Samsung, and they have failed us.

Service was the solution.

batman0000,

From the body of your original message:

<i><u>Sending the unit in for "service" is not a viable solution anymore</u> as we have had to substantially tighten our budget and cannot afford an expensive service bill...</i>

http://forums.cnet.com/5208-13973_102-0.html?forumID=146&threadID=330317&messageID=2979275&tag=commProfileMain%3bprofileBot#2979275

The only recourse with a unit that isn't working properly is to send it in for service. You asked for help, told me the conditions, and I have no solution other than to send it in for service. I wasn't going to suggest you do something you've already said you would not do.
