Samsung BDP 1500 and Kung Fu Panda BluRay Audio problem

Nov 16, 2008 7:25AM PST

So I got the kick butt totally awesome Kung Fu Panda BluRay and being an animator myself I was psyched to sit down with the Animator's Corner commentary. Except I get no audio on it. The other commentary track works great, this one gives me nothing. I've updated the firmware, I've tried both the PCM option, and the Bitstream (re-encode) (with Dynamic compression, and PCM downsampling, both turned on and off). I haven't tried the Bitstream (audiophile) option cause I've heard it can be dangerous to send uncompressed audio to some receivers. I need to keep it on Bitsream (re-encode) to get 5.1 or 6.1 audio for my movies from the player. If I leave it on PCM everything plays in just 2 channel audio.

I send the audio to my receiver through the Fiber optic out, my receiver is a Yamaha HTR-5830. It's not a high end receiver and its a few years old, BUT for the size of the room and what I need its perfect.

ARGGGHHH and I just noticed that some of my Ratatouille extras that had audio yesterday now after the firmware update don't get any audio.

This is so frustrating.

I don't have a fix for that, and up until your post was unaware of this issue. I will be sending that information up to the engineers this evening. If I hear of something in the meantime, please let me know. As well, if you find other issues, please don't hesitate to add them.

I apologize for the inconvenience.

Thank you for reporting it. We don't know about these issues sometimes until people tell us. It gives us a headstart to address the problem, so I appreciate you saying something.

And I've hit that submit button by accident a few times myself. Wink

Checking in

Hey just wondering if there's been any development on this at all?

I've also noticed that my player "forgets" its video res setting once a week. At least once a week I'll notice the picture doesn't look right and I'll check the front display and sure enough it's doing 1080i instead of 720p and I have to go in and change it back.
