SAMSUNG BD UPGRADE HELP!!

Switched on my BD1590 this morning and screen said "upgrade available" against my better judgment I selected the upgrade.
The whole thing seemed to go smoothly, until the final stage (4)
It has been displaying the "Firmware update, dont turn off" for over an hour,

what can I do? I am scared to turn off, case it I screws something up.
its been running good since some initial setup problems, I even bought a BD-C6500 because I was pleased the way the BD1590 worked out.
If I turn off and do a reset will it old the old version?

You can power down the unit, and bring it back up. To load the latest version of the last installed firmware, press and hold the STOP button until the unit resets.

In most cases, it will finalize and install the firmware update.
