Question

Samsung BD-P1600 Blue Ray Player

Mar 11, 2016 11:51AM PST

After preforming a firmware upgrade to Version 2.22 the unit will not play any Blue Ray discs. It will play regular DVD's.The issue is not with any of my Blue Rays, they play fine on my Sony unit. I have a previous version 2.12 but everytime I load it on the unit,it comes back with an error message. Is there any way of bypassing this message or deleting the version 2.22. All suggestions accepted. Also if someone has a copy of any older versions like 1.03,1.04, 1.06 or prior to 2.12 or where I could find them would be appreciated. I asked Samsung and they insist that there are no problems with ver 2.22.They are unable to supply me with older versions of firmware explaining that you cannot downgrade. There is always a way around that.

Clarification Request
Sorry to hear that

Unfortunately, no, there is *not* always a way around that. Quite often firmware upgrades are not reversible.

You need to find out what the Sammy support/warranty language is for the device in question, then proceed to solve the issue.

Problem's with reversing firmware to older version

Has anybody tried to rename an old version of firmware to a higher version.
If I could get an old version of firmware then I would rename it with a higher number.

Reversing Firmware
Mar 13, 2016 11:30AM PDT

With the latest upgarde which was 2.22 I was able to get into the program. I could only find two locations where the firmware is identified. The first location is the title of the file and second location is at the beginning of the program. As far as I can see if one can rename the old versions to a higher number it should do it. I do not believe that there will be any newer versions for BD-P1600 then 2.22.So rename an older version to 2.23 where needed and it should work. It's something to try after all these years.I beleive version 2.22 was dated about 2012 and since then there have not been any new versions of firmware for this model.

It's been about a decade and I've yet to read of anyone getting an older firmware version to install.
