I don't think this is a known issue with this player - at least I never heard of it before . . .
What I would try first is to reset the player to factory default settings. You can do this by holding down the "Fast Forward" button on the front while turning the power on. I believe you should hold it down for at least 5-10 seconds after the power comes on.
If that doesn't help, then I would try using the 2 channel audio out (left and right). I know that this will give you crappy sound but you will at least see if the player is outputting any audio signal at all.
If everything fails then I think you will need to look into getting it repaired or just buying a new one.
Good luck . . . .
While using my BD-P1500 to watch a DVD the sound for no apparent reason cut out and as yet has not returned.
The drive is about a year old and connected to a LE40A686M1FXXU (Purchased at the same time as the 1500, and has always been connected to it). I have tried using 3 different DVDs and 1 Blu Ray - All of which previously worked fine, but alas all now without sound.
I have tried using a different HDMI lead as well as plugging into a different port on my TV. Along with the traditional tech solution of turning it off for a bit, then turning it back on. All of which without success.
Is this a known issue? Is there a solution?
