Samsung BD-P1500 Remote Not Working

I have a Samsung BD-P1500 Blu-Ray player and my Samsung Remote control is not working to control the player. I have been using a universal remote for about the last year and now have moved the player to another room where I do not have a universal remote to use. So I got out the brand new Samsung remote and no luck controlling the Samsung player at all... Tried several sets of batteries and also resetting the remote by removing the batteries then pressing a couple of buttons for several minutes.

Any ideas? Is the remote just dead? I am out of warranty so if it is indeed dead, sounds like I would need to either buy a new one or buy another universal remote...
