It should turn itself off when the update is complete. However, you may be able to reset the unit by holding down the FF button for 12 seconds. It should shut itself off and restart.
I was trying to play some newly purchased movies (Public Enemies) on my Samsung BD-P1500 but they wouldn't play. I did some research and came to the conclusion that the firmware needed to be updated. I hadn't updated it since I got it last Christmas (2008). I followed these directions exactly: http://ars.samsung.com/customer/usa/jsp/faqs/faqs_view_us.jsp?SITE_ID=1&PG_ID=3&PROD_SUB_ID=788&PROD_ID=839&AT_ID=134065 from the Samsung Website. I got to the part in section 10 where it says "Do you want to update" and I selected "Yes". The screen then went black with a Samsung logo and nothing happened. I waited for about 30 minutes and still nothing, and then I turned the player off. Now when I power it on, I get nothing on the screen (its all fuzzy static).
I'm worried that maybe I should have waited longer before turning it off, but I don't think that was the case because no messages were appearing (as it said in the directions).
Can someone please offer me some guidance? Thanks!
