Samsung BD-E5700 Blu-Ray Player no Skype App

Greetings:

I recently got a Samsung BD-E5700 Blu-Ray Player and in the the Smart Hub section I can not download the Skype App.
According to this YouTube video made in 2011 by Samsung explaining very well what the Smart Hub is.
In the LifeStyle App section you can clearly see that the Skype App is available.

I am very disappointed that the Skype App is not available on the Smart Hub.
This may make me return my Blu-Ray Player and exchange it for a model that has the Skype App available.

Not all models can do Skype but almost all have the Smart Hub.

Are you thinking that any Smart Hub device should have the Skype App?

I believe if Samsung created Smart Hub, it should have everything the same for all Blu-Ray players.
This is very confusing when someone is researching a product that they want to buy.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 T989 Mobile Phone, in Canada model X, and it has acessability to all the Apps available for Android.
I think Samsung should not restrict the choice of Apps due to a Blu-Ray model one buys.

I'm leaning towards exchanging this Samsung Blu-Ray for a Panasonic model which has a Skype button directly on the remote.

I see what you are thinking now but wouldn't that put what would amount to a TAX on all units? That is, if we were to require that all Smart Hub devices do Skype then that would drive the cost up on all units.

For those that only want Netflix, then this tax would have folk avoid these models.

You should return this and get the model you want that does what you want.

There are folk that mistake these devices for a PC. That is, they often ask why web sites don't work and more. Some even ask how to install decoders for formats that are not supported. A discussion is usually hard as you try to go over this is not a PC. It's a device with limited resources and made to meet a price point.

Your assumption that all apps available for Android are displayed the same across all devices is flawed. Developers have the ability to filter their apps by OEM, Carrier, Device model, resolution, OS version, etc. There is no device where you see all apps available.
