Question

Samsung BD-E5400 stopped working

Dec 25, 2014 2:37AM PST

My Samsung stopped working. It powers on but no home screen, nothing shows up. I have checked the connections but all are fine. I have unplugged it also. Any suggestions? It won't even open the DVD tray.

I'd ask how much repair costs. It seems like a power issue.

Home screen?

Any light indication on the player? If yes, then have you try opening the tray by pushing the button? If yes, then I say maybe it's time to go shopping for a new one.

Same Issue - Not Working BD-E5400
Dec 28, 2014 5:04AM PST

I have the same issue that you describe... exactly the same. I have trouble believing that the device would just up and stop working like this. I found resetting instructions online, but those instructions require you to see the menu screen... which, just like you, I cannot. I wonder about a hard reset feature??

Hoping anyone else might come on to this forum and provide some clues/options on what might be done. I'm certainly up for spending another $40 to buy another player, but I'm one of those old school folks that doesn't want to abandon hope quite so quickly.

Thanks!

Same issue

I am suddenly having the exact same issue; started about 2 weeks ago....the player will turn on, but the disc tray will not operate, and there is NO home menu showing up. It was working fine earlier one day, then a few hours later I have no home menu. I could spend money for another player, but would rather try and fix this one first. I've only had it a few years, there should be plenty of use left in it.
