Samsung BD-C5500 powers off immediately

My BD-C5500 is misbehaving. I press power on the remote and it comes on, controls and display light up. Then when it's loading it immeddiately powers itself off. from pressing the on button to off is little more than 3 seconds. even if I try to turn it on by pressin the tray open button this happens. rendering the device useless. It seemed to operate fine just days ago. Samsung's website is no help, nor is the user manual. Does anybody know how I can fix it?

Now, I just tried again and it came on as normal. strange as I'd been trying for 45min to an hour unsuccessfully. Not sure what the deal is.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having problems with your unit.

If you can, with the tray empty, press and hold the STOP button and see if it stays on long enough to do a reset.

If that doesn't reset the machine and cause it to operate properly, it may need to be serviced.
