Samsung 710v monitor does not activate and remains black

by Mavrouka / June 20, 2010 7:12 PM PDT

I have a Samsung 710V monitor, which will not start - I just get a black screen when I switch on.

It is connected to a Dell laptop (Windows XP) and worked fine until recently when it was disconnected from the laptop and then re-connected. I have checked that all the connections are ok. Now the green light for the on/off switch in the middle flashes all the time, but the screen remains black.

I would be grateful for advice on how to fix this.

Mavrouka,

Does it work with a different computer attached? I'd try to whittle down the symptoms so that you can determine if it's the fault of the video card (hardware or settings) or the monitor itself.

Samsung 710V - I have the same problem - Blank screen
by essveect / June 23, 2010 9:19 AM PDT

Sorry Samsung Tech Support, it ain't a cable 'cos I have the same problem! Recently installed Windows 7 and when I boot get a blank screen on my Samsung 710V. No problem with cables 'cos if I use another monitor (LG) it works fine, and if I plug the Samsung monitor into another PC it works fine too. Some software/driver issue here that needs resolution ... PLEEZ !!

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
