Can anyone give me some opinions on this model good or bad? Did you have any issues with tech support or customer service? Service after the sale is important to me. Thank you.

I like the maker for prices and OK to good picture quality for the price.
I don't like their Smart Hub for many reasons. Mostly because you can't use the web browser without a smart hub account. There has been no real inspection of what data they collect as well as outages. Also, as the TVs age, you find apps fail without any hope of fixes.

The worst is the browser. It's sub par on so many areas that I wonder why they bother.

Are there any models that are equivalent to the model that i'm researching that doesn't come with the Smart Hub? I'm not a gamer nor do I read my E-mail or browse. I just use it to watch local tv and movies.

You can ignore or disable it. Shop for one WITH A TUNER (some don't have tuners.), picture quality and price.

For my future big screen purchase, I'm planning on cutting the cable and connect a Roku with the indoor antenna and amplifier. Do I still need a tv with a tuner? What tv makers have what I'm looking for? I don't trust Best Buy's and the like floor sales staff to give me the best answers to my questions. How much coin are we talking when you say "High End"? Can I disable the Smart Hub myself or is this something that a professional should do? Will I lose Netflix, Youtube and Pandora?

The disable is a setting in a menu. I can't tell you the exact steps since it changes with the model. But so far, it's user settable.

As to the tuner, it's a common complaint when it comes to cable cutters so I highlight that.

As to loss, those are exactly what a Roku and such provide so I can't see why these would be lost.

"High End" = models over 32 inches! I'm not kidding here. Makers tend to not make bigger screens without the smart TV feature. It doesn't make sense in that market as to have 2 models costs more to produce, ship, stock and support as just 1 model.
