Four years is what they are built for, according to https://www.tomsguide.com/us/lcd-hdtv-repair-defect-warranty,news-15057.html , in 2012 anyway. Do you have any reason to suppose it has become better since then?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Life_spans_of_home_appliances says 7 years for a LCD TV. That's $1.30 a day.
I realize that this model is discontinued, but I would like to discourage
anyone from buying it used for anything other than a throwaway price.
Cost ~$3300 when we bought it 4 years ago. Very nice until this month, when it developed fine horizontal lines across the screen. Repairman said it would cost $1400 to replace the screen and it wasn't worth doing. We paid ~$2/day to watch this TV. It's got a nice picture, but not that nice. Theory has it that you can replace the main board and a cable for what is probably an acceptable price, but apparently that wasn't possible.
Samsung said the warranty was only a year and gave us the number of the authorized repair facility. We own a lot of Samsung stuff, but we'll never buy another Samsung item again. Something this expensive (I recently bought a good 2002 Corolla for less than this) ought to last longer than four years.
