Samsung 55 inch Plasma TC explosion

Our 2 year old 55 inch Plasma Samsung 3D TV exploded last night while we were watching it. We're talking sparks, small flames, smoke, and the stench of burned electrical components. Has this happened to others? Even if the TV is out of warranty, is there any recourse with Samsung?
