The defaults are fine except for a few areas. Here's my recurring findings.
1. I have to use a different DNS entry. Try 8.8.8.8 on the TV
2. Some routers have firewalls. I find that can interfere so turn that off in the router. There is no standard where this is and a pre-answer is that routers already have a natural firewall so without a book on networking I can't go much deeper than we need to turn this new firewall off.
we are unable to sign on to Netflix and it has nothing to do with usercode or password but says it is a network problem . when we contacted At&t direct tv they said it is a problem with ip settings and should reset to default settings and see if that helped. I don't know how to do this. thanks for the help
