Resolved Question

SAMSUNG 50" DLP TV WITH WHITE DOTS (NOW HUNDREDS)

Jul 30, 2011 7:06AM PDT

I called 800 SAMSUNG (totally useless) and I put a work ticket in to see how much it will cost to fix the DMD board on my 4 year old tv. I bought an extended warranty from Circuit City for four years and the TV started having white dots appear one week (6-1-11) after the expiration of the extended warranty. SAMSUNG's automated email system keeps notifiying me that the work tickets are cancelled a few hours after I call them in (not sure why plus NO one called me from a service center to set up a service call OR let me know how much it would cost for repair).

I see that the white dots are a common problem related to the DMD circuit board in SAMSUNG HD TVs but I also see that SAMSUNG will not repair the problem for free even though it is such a common problem with their TVs. I will NEVER EVER buy SAMSUNG products again NOR will I recommend them to my friends or enemies.

I see on some threads that someone from SAMSUNG helped to get a free one-time repair authorized on the same exact model and manufacture date that I have. My model is: HLT5076SX/XAA Manufactured on: April 2007.

Can anyone help me get a free repair or tell me where to get the DMD board from? I am a computer technician and I am very capable of installing the board myself if I can get one.

Thank you.

My TV is still a work in progress.....

The "Samsung" tech (from a sub-contractor of course) came out on Tuesday August 9, 2011. Took the guy 4 hours to change the DMD chip, he had some issues (he had NO service manual) and could not get any tech support to fix it while he was here because the tech support center closed at 5:30est. Now the picture is fuzzy and out of focus and I am not sure if the white dots are gone plus now there is black smudges in the images. Can not watch the TV until a technician returns.

Waiting for a response from the sub-contractor since Tuesday August 9, 2011.

I spent 45 minutes on the phone with 1-800-SAMSUNG on 8-11-11 with no outcome other than "I have to wait for the sub-contractor to call me back".

Can anyone help me expedite the repair??

I really miss my TV.

Thank you,
