http://www.cnet.com/news/my-life-with-a-curved-tv-week-2/ pretty much nails it for me. Gimmick.

In an effort to keep all related topics for the above titled models, this thread is being established.
Please post your suggestions, settings, questions to this thread.
Discussion is locked
The curve does not apply to either model that is in the title of this thread. Both are flat panels.
The exact models that are being discussed here is located in the title of the very first post in this thread.
Samsung 4K UNHU8550 and UNHU8500 in your top post and the Techradar is indeed a Samsung hu8500.
Why not work with others here? That is, rather than make everyone guess the exact models, just share the Samsung web page on them?
Bob
Hi Bob
Thank for the reply.
So I understand that you are the owner of the UNHU8550 or UNHU8500 then?
This thread is for owners to talk about their TV

The usual post when folk ask about models that are so close is to figure out what's different between the models.
If you want to attempt an owner's thread like AVS Forum then lead with that along with what you are looking for. Here we are a few posts down and you want a rule change.
How about a reply to your top post clarifying what you want to know and the exact models so the Ambassador can answer?
Bob
hi Bob, thanks for the reply
the rules are not changing. I do not have any questions regarding the above two models. This thread was established for the owners of either of those two models to post their questions and concerns so others can't answer much like the AVS forum. Apparently CNET is not set up like this.
If you read the FAQ at http://forums.cnet.com/forums-FAQ/?tag=TOCleftColumn.0;blankArea.0 it leads with:
"We are proud to present these forums for you to ask and answer questions and to voice your opinion on today's important high-tech issues"
AVS Forums does have an owner's thread format.
Here we have discussion forums that so far have been where folk ask questions and hope for answers.
Your top post didn't have a glaring question so I took it as the usual what is the difference. Since full model numbers were omitted I took the first hit on both models to find a flat and curved models. I'm unsure why you railed against that since I supplied links about both.
Bob
"Since full model numbers were omitted I took the first hit on both models to find a flat and curved model"
If you do a search on either model number (or portion of it) as stated in the title of the OP, you will see that both are flat panels
http://www.cnet.com/products/samsung-un60hu8550/ and
http://www.cnet.com/pictures/new-televisions-at-ces-2014-pictures/11/ for the UNHU8500
...your glasses on or off? When I have my glasses on the TV looks curved, but when I take them off it looks flat. Sometimes I like to flip my glasses up and down, just to watch the amazing animation it produces. Have you tried that one? Then I turn it on.
If you want to do the usual AVS Forum post, why not lead with that?
You've bantered quite a bit here. No problem but I don't see how that helps folk decide about which models to choose or why.
Here's Samsung's own web page for a curved HU8500
http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/tv-audio-video/televisions/curved-tvs/UE65HU8500TXXU
Why not try again, but post full model numbers and what your goals are?
Bob
HU8500 that you referred to in your like above is not Samsung USA website
The Samsung USA website below will show you what the HU8500 FLAT panel looks like
http://www.samsung.com/us/video/tvs/UN60HU8500FXZA
Notice in that description there is not the word "CURVED" used.
It appears you want to:
a) Mimic the AVS Forum owners threads.
b) Nail down the models to US and more.
Start a new thread and I can clean this off for you.
Bob
Oh, and in the OP the title said "UN" that is United States
You posted a link to a UE model
