Samsung 460PX / FIOS Remote

Mar 18, 2009 11:28AM PDT

I have a Samsung 460PX hooked up to FIOS HD. I can program my remote so that it turns on the TV. But none of the codes turn off the TV. I believe it has to do with the TV remote having different ON and OFF buttons where the FIOS remote only has a POWER button. Any thoughts?

Samsung 460PX / FIOS Remote

ericksonjb,

I'm not sure what the issue could be, except that perhaps the FIOS remote doesn't have the correct discrete codes to power off the unit. I'm not sure there's a way to fix this, as those codes are programmed in by them.

Have you tried the other Samsung codes for that remote?

Yeah, I tried all the Samsung codes that the FIOS remote manual provided. And the I tried the process where you test out every single code in the remote (over 300). No luck. I'm assuming since the FIOS remote only has a POWER button, when you program it, you either get to turn it ON or OFF and they choose ON as the more logical function. Oh well.

ericksonjb,

That's quite a process. I've had to try that once, and I can appreciate the frustration of going through all of that and still not getting it to work.

Unfortunately, I don't have any other suggestions, other than maybe considering a Harmony or all-in-one remote that might be compatible with both units. Just a thought.
