Samsung 46" LED TV Wired Network not working

by athansj / October 5, 2010 10:31 AM PDT

Hi,

I just bought this Samsing 46" LED TV model: UA46C5000 and tried to connect to my Router using Wired LAN, however, the router is not detecting any connection from the TV. When I tried configuring it to the TV, it encountered error on DHCP. Then I use manual IP configuration, then it encountered error on pinging the gateway. As I check the status of the router, no connection found from the TV. I tried removing the LAN cable from the TV and connect to my laptop, the router able to detect the connection from my laptop. Do I need to do something? or Do you think the TV have the problem? please help so I can decide to return the TV.

Thanks.

athansj,

Unfortunately, I can't assist with network questions. Each one is different, and I'm not sure why it's allowing access to one port and not the other. I might suggest connecting the device and then cycling the modem/router. That's about as far as I can go.

There is a forum post for connecting TVs in the Networking forum here:

Thank you very much for your support.

Thanks for the reply.
Basically I don't have problem with my network, what i'm asking is about the samsung tv LAN connection, is there some switch to ON the LAn card of the LED TV? Because it seems turned off, if there isn't, i believe it is not working and i'll return it right away.

athansj,

There shouldn't be a switch. Once it's connected (or it has detected that it has) to the network, you should be able to get a detection in the television and perhaps at least get a Mac address in the Network Test, or check the network to make sure that there's a new device connected.

It would be rare that the LAN port on the TV wouldn't be working, but I can't definitively rule it out, either.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
