I have a purposely bad fuzzy picture of Cold cathode fluorescent lamp or CCFL (see google) at various ages. These tubes do tend to age and need replacement. Most of us will ignore it till its dead due to the cost of service.
Look at http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w146/rproffitt2000/new2old.jpg to see the exact model device but at 5 years, a few years and new.
This is why I really like the move from CCFL to LED.
My Samsung 46" TV has begun to fade on the left side. The picture is stretched and dark. That lasts for about 15 - 20 and then the picture returns to normal. The TV is over 2 years old and out of warrany. Is the TV busted? I am hoping not as it isn't an old TV...Is it defective.
