Samsung 40C6000 DLNA problems

Sep 8, 2010 8:40AM PDT

Recently purchased a new LED TV, and so far I'm pretty satisfied with it. My only problem lies withing Samsung's DLNA implementation. I do have a hdmi connection from PC to TV, so I generally can play media fine. I have been setting up a network storage as well, and wanted to use my routers DLNA server together with my TV, so I can watch stored content without having my PC running.
The router is a Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH. My TV refuses to recognize the server in the network.

Samsung's PC share manager is also no option, since it cannot share network content, and it's also terribly slow (when I open my main PC harddrive in it, it simply freezes).

I need help in this matter, thanks in advance.

Nobody?

Maybe someone can help me with this: The Samsung PC share manager flat out does not work for me. Whenever I try to open one of my harddrives or "my computer" it completely locks up. The ONLY way I've found to share any folder has been to put it on my desktop, then it works fine. This however is not feasible for a number of reasons:
I like to keep my desktop clean and clutter free and more importantly, my main system drive is a 160gb SSD, putting media on it would be a complete waste of a good drive.

I'm currently using Windows 7 x64 home premium and Pc share manager version 4.2 (latest from the samsung homepage.

KamikaZeeFu,

Have you tried restarting your router after installing your media server?

According to the manual, this device doesn't have a DLNA server. It uses network file sharing (SAMBA), not streaming. You won't be able to access it from a C-series. Doesn't the TV have a USB port you can use?

You may have too large a shared folder set in Share Manager. A whole hard drive is too much to index all at once. I suggest you create shares for "My Pictures" etc. or start with something even smaller to check it works.

You got me wrong there, I'm not trying to share "my computer". I'm trying to browse my files, but the program crashes as soon as I try to browse either my computer or any of my harddrives. It's a very frustrating experience.

Still no help with the share manager?

KamikaZeeFu,

Unfortunately, I can't assist with the program if it's crashing when you start it. I might suggest re-installing it, but it's likely that you may have already tried that or doing so may not work.

The only other solution that I can think of would be to use the MSC device (thumbdrives) or possibly a different media sharing program, such as Twonky or TVersity. Some users have reported some success with either of those.

It does have a DLNA server, the problem was that it only works for partition 1 of the drive. Since that still used ntfs (the router requieres XFS) the router would not share it.
