Samsung 3D compatible plasmas

Dec 14, 2008 6:05AM PST

I was looking at getting a plasma and saw that the samsung series 4 plasmas on their webpage were 3D ready. Are those the only ones? Info I had read on other sites made me believe that the series 5 were also 3D ready but it doesn't mention it at the Samsung site.

Also why can't you purchase the shutter glasses separately? Tridef doesn't have them on their site, seems shortsighted to only supply 1 and not let consumers buy them without the software.

From what I've read so far it seems that the 3D system will allow conversion of regular DVDs (played from the PC), video files on the PC (any format constraints?). and games from the PC using the drivers from tridef. If I were to pass the signal from an Xbox 360 or PS3 through the PC is there any way to get 2D-3D conversion in real time? What about live TV, any way to get conversion on that?

In short, if samsung wants support for this they first need to advertise it (stores who carry the tvs had no idea what 3D capable even meant), they need to find a way to support more media (console video games, tv), they also need to actually have helpful info on their website and on tridef's. And sell the glasses so a family of 4 wouldn't have to play musical 3D shutter glasses.
