Hello
I share a Wifi with my landlord, or at least was planning to. My landlord has a Sagem wireless router and that has WEP security. He gave me the password, when I enter it in my Windows 7 Familial Premium Laptop it says that the password is incorrect, without even moving to the "connecting" proccess, the "incorrect password message" appears instantly after hitting enter. I searched this through and learned that the wireless password which is "9U8S6DPZ" is 64bits in size, while WEP should be 40, 104 or 232 bits. Fine! But how the hell does my landlord connect to it? A friend of mine was able to connect to it very easily no problem too. So I decided to check the connection properties to his connection and I find that it's not WEP, it's TKIP which makes sense since if it was WEP, it shouldn't accept the password as in my case. But why doesn't it set it to TKIP in my PC too? and why when I change it manually to TKIP and type in the password it adds a huge X next to the name of the SSID, saying it has wrong configuration?
