I am using Microsoft ME and I got a message while on the internet which reads:
Microsoft Visual C++Runtime Library
X Buffer Overrun Detected!
Program:...MFILES\Common Files\Symantic Shared\CCAPP.EXE
''A buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted the program's internal state. The Program cannot safely continue execution and must now be terminated'' Well, I had gotten this msg before and just clicked ok and restarted my computer and it seemed to go away. This time I thought I might fix it myself (novice know-it-all) so I went to system restore and picked a date and was unable to reverse the restoration. My pc went into SAFE MODE and I kept getting red screens from NAV Auto-Protect saying ''the config files were not found, using default config.'' and ''unabale to initialize the virus scanning engine database files'' I found the Safe Mode Troubleshooter and tried disabling my startup files. After many combinations of unchecking and loading files I was able to get to my regular sign-on screen and tried dial up connection and got msg:"Internal authentication error" and also msg from NAV"unable to start email protection because the options file is corrupt or missing and a suggestion that I may need to reinstall NAV to correct the problem, which I did.
After making a new dial up connection I was able to get online, but I am affraid after I log out, I will be in the same boat "SAFE MODE" without a paddle.
HELP!!! Hope this makes sense to somebody. Oh yeah, the NAV sends msg that I am unprotected.
