sad ipod icon

Feb 3, 2010 10:12PM PST

My ipod 4th gen froze today and when I tried to reset it, I got the sad ipod icon with the apple support url. But Apple apparently doesn't support 4th gen any more, as there was not category for anythng earlier than 5th gen. And a search for ipod 4th gen turned up nothing. How do I get it reset so that it will work again?

I look at the link and thanks. Does the sad ipod icon mean my drive is kaput?

It's that or the board.

In a few rare instances it cleared up as we just took it apart and put it back together. That pointed to a failed connection but here's the deal. Many are afraid they'll break their iPod. The reality is that it's broken so we won't make matters worse.
