Question

S-video port to usb

May 14, 2014 7:27PM PDT

S-video port to usb cable.
Can someone please tell me this exists and the cost?
Or any other inexpensive, easy way to transfer my old vids on my old 90s analog video camera to my laptop?

USB 2.0 speed is sometimes inadequate but remember that many STRUGGLE with those things. I will not write that the following is trouble free and the question has been put up so many times I'm a little surprised when folk ask again.

Try this one.

Notice it's #1 in such category?

the program seems to only work on vhs tapes however my tapes are mini dv tapes. i can play the tapes on my old camcorder though. i looked at 'how it works' and it tells me to get a tape player but my mini dv tapes doesnt need that.

Then what to add?

If you are derailed by the tape spec then what will stop you next? The video signal is not determined by the tape type so I'm a little worried here that nothing will be without a stopping point or perceived issue.

For me I never use this or the Dazzle because I'm not that patient. I use the HDD recorder then dub that to DVD and I'm done in half or better the time.

Dazzle

There is also the Dazzle DVD Recorder HD VHS to DVD Converter. It is a system that has been around for a while and forms a DVD recorder by using your PC and Pinnacle software. It has an S-video input as well as composite.

•Video inputs: Composite Video (RCA or S-Video (mini-DIN)
•Audio Inputs: Stereo Audio (RCA)
•PC connection: Hi-Speed USB 2.0

So if you still have your s-video cable, that should work. You will still need to connect the audio (red and white) as S-video does not carry sound.
