S.O.S ..... Sony Bravia KDL- 40S4100 or 40W4100

by swilson288 / December 25, 2008 1:33 PM PST

The 40S4100 is $850 and the 40W4100 is $1400 is the 40Wseries that much better or am I better off buying the 40S series?

I'll be using it in my basement (dimmly lit with potlights), watching mostly hockey games and movies.

S vs. W

Click on each Sony link and you can do a side-by-side comparison. The "S" is the basic LCD from Sony, which is a very good TV. The "W" has 120Hz Motionflow, has true 24p Cinema mode which is ideal if you plan on hooking up a 1080p/24p source like a Blue-Ray player, has a better Bravia processing chip, better contrast, and a few other items. You can't go wrong with either. It just depends on the features you need. I personally was about to buy a Panasonic Plasma for the bedroom, but after taking a close look at a friends Plasma, I saw image retention issues that scare me because I still watch a lot of 4:3 material. Anyways, I will be buying either the "W" or "Z" model from Sony, but I prefer the 120Hz display and I will have a Blu-Ray player hooked up so I want a true 1080p/24 display.

HOWEVER KEEP IN MIND YOU CAN PURCHASE THE LARGER 46" MODELS FOR LITTLE MORE.

KDL-46S4100/B $1,399

KDL-46W4100/B $1,699

KDL-46Z4100/B $1,799

BIGGER IS ALWAYS BETTER WITH HDTV!!!

HOWEVER, IF IT'S A BARGAIN YOU WANT JUMP ON THE 40" S4100/B

Happy shopping, Happy 2009,

The KDL-40W4100 is $1249. At Costco it's called KDL-40WL140, but it's the same TV.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
