That's just the way it is....honest.

You need to clean your system, defrag, check for malware, truly remove old or previous uninstalled pgms. 100% clean remove. On top of all that, if you're adding more pgms. or functions except some decrease from system resources, so check "startup" during boot-up and/or all those backgrd. running tasks/pgms. Decide what can stay or needed and proceed from there. Adding more memory helps more often than not and is a relative easy install h/w wise, however for winMe, no more than 512Mb should be installed for max. benefits.
