I doubt they have any common ground politically. My guess is that Apple's involvement in this is in developing the platform for any newspaper to publish on iOS, not just this one.
I read with interest over the weekend about the upcoming joint-venture with Rupert Murdoch and Steve Jobs in developing a tabloidish (reportedly, anyway) "Daily" newspaper for the iPad.
I can't help but wonder about the mixed sensibilities here. Yes, both men are capitalists, for sure, and both value a good business proposition (although one could easily argue that Murdoch's ventures in the internet realm have been less than successful so far). But it's the culture of Apple and the culture of Newscorp that intrigues me, at least insofar as we are lead to believe if one is to accept the stereotype about the two.
I'm most interested in how Apple aficianados will react to this "strange bedfellowship". Thoughts?
