Running Housecall under Knoppix

by Michael Geist / September 2, 2004 9:56 AM PDT

I am looking for some instruction to be able to run Housecall under Knoppix. I can access the online scanner but it fails to install. Any ideas or thoughts or answers?

I downloaded the Linux version and attempted to install but I received a Root Login password box, with no login known nor any keyboard keys available. This is the Debian Package, I do not know if this matters as I am a Linux newbie.

Thanks for the links Bob, but I have a lot of self-educating to do over the holiday weekend concerning this little project.

Being new to Linux based OSs, I have found Knoppix to be an interesting tool in accessing troubled Windows machines. Where I was going with this thread is to try an create a situation where a virus ladened (and non-networkable) Windows machine could be scanned online through Knoppix. It seems possible but I have yet to reach the path.

If the filesystem is FAT, the keep that handy too. It fits on one diskette last time I needed it.

Downloaded the ISO, burned the CD and ran Knoppix STD, but no ClamAV on the program.

Maybe it was taken out? I was looking forward to that one, seemed promising.

The problem I've had with that distro is that it's hard to find everything...
