Running DOS program on XP

by ferc / December 9, 2004 6:21 AM PST

I have a DOS programm that I use to run all my business in. the program uses betrieve and when I run it on Windows XP the program says betrieve loaded and then it stops loading and i have to use Ctrl-Alt-Delete to close the program.

I have tried using compabiblity for windows 95 but it doesn't work.

Anyone has any ideas?

thankyou

It's likely you'll have to open a command window. Type Command, then figure out a BATCH FILE to load btrieve and then your application.

I programmed some btrieve apps many years ago, but we migrated all our apps off it due to this issue.

You may have to try this window and batch file tricks or just go back to a supported OS.

I'M ALSO HAVING PROBLEMS WITH A DOS BASED PROGRAM. YOU MENTIONED RUNNING BTRIEVE BEFORE RUNNING THE PROGRAM. I'VE NEVER HEARD OF BTRIEVE, COULD YOU TELL ME WHAT TO DO.

THANKS

Also, you seem to not be writing about btrieve. In fact, I did't see what program was at issue.

How about this? Make your own post since it has nothing to do with this discussion and use both upper and lower case next time.
