by slowing them down. Maybe.
I run the SETI@Home program (continously) and my 2 GHz AMD runs at 90%. But my processor temp is around 50 C.
How do you know you're running hot?
Major Geeks has several utilities available to help cool down a computer's processor.
I am running a 1.8 mhz processor with 512k of memory. I run a lot of resident protection programs and my processor even at idle often spikes to 25% or more. If i use my media player (which I do often) the processor is often spiking over 70%.
I accept, given the large number of resident shields I have, that my processor is going to run a bit high. I am wondering (1) do any of these utilities actually do any good and (2), if yes, which one is best for a Celeron?
