running an external harddrive from a tablt

I am looking at buying an external hard drive, 500 gb,or 1 tb, to use for movie storage from my laptop.My question is,can I run it on my tablet,too? it does not have a usb port,just the standard charging port

The only way I know of would be via a PC.

If you connect your tablet to a PC via the cord from the tablet to a USB port on the PC, you could copy things from the tablet via the PC to the external HD. I've never tried going in the other direction (i.e. from the PC to the tablet).

The way I solved this was over a WiFi HDD.

The manual says it's a charging port or is it a USB port? But even if it's a usb port. The other thing you have to have is an external Hdd. WITH external power supply. It's highly unlikely that usb port on the tablet could provide enough power for the Hdd.
