I don?t remember where, but there was a guide listed in virus & spy ware forum a while back. The following are the general settings, that I can recall, on how to setup Ccleaner.
Clean all entries in ?Internet Explorer - (except ?delete index.dat"), Windows Explorer, System & Advanced - I like to uncheck ?Menu Order Cache? because I like to arrange my ?Favorites? folder a certain way
Options / Cookies tab - Here I obviously select which cookies to keep - like ?cnet forum?, yahoo, etc. Obviously, if you delete one that you want to keep, the next time you go there you will notice 'that', and you can then return to the 'Cookies tab' and add it to the keep side.
Options / Advanced tab - Uncheck - Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 48 hours, Check - Close program after cleaning
All the rest of the ?defaults? can be maintained.
Good luck,
Eddie
I recently got a new computer and wanted a registry cleaner. I decided on CCleaner, and it's simple enough to use, but been using the preselected options and it got rid of some stuff I didn't want to get rid of (mainly I'm referring to cookies). The next time I ran the program I checked the cookies file and there were a LOT of them that I don't know if I need (or want) or not. Some of the ones to keep are obvious. I also don't understand some of the preselected options under "system". I figured that since the items are preselected to clean, those are the ones that need regular cleaning (such as windows log files), but I'm not sure. I went to the CCleaner website and I can't find answers to my questions.
