Question

Runaway mouse in Windows 10

Mar 16, 2017 4:28PM PDT

I have had Windows 1`0 on my HP Envy computer for a year with no problems. For the last month, the mouse has gone crazy & will tab down numerous blank pages until the cursor stops. I can press Escape to stop this for a sec, but it starts up again. This happens in Word docs, Google docs in particular. It even happened in this form. It also opens DOZENS of the same window.

I see there is some auto-scrolling feature in 10, which I disabled. There is no difference in what's happening since I did that.

I am not sure if this is a Window problem, a mouse problem, or what is going on. My machine is 64 bit, with 8 MG of RAM. It has an Intel Core i5 processor.

Any clues what is happening? Thanks very much.

Likely caused by the mouse pad itself.

I usually plug in a mouse and disable the pad. Then I know. Repair is costly so most folk pick up a 20 buck mouse and forget the pad.

Although the others are probably correct here, sometimes you can adjust "Pointer Options" control and fix the issue. So... Open the Control Panel, then the "Mouse" icon, then the "Pointer Options" tab. Once there, UNCHECK the box next to "Enhance pointer precision",, then Apply, then OK.

Hope this helps.

nice computer.

Well, try to connect your mouse to another port or connect it to another computer. At first to make sure if the mouse is broken.

If it worked well on another computer, maybe is the software problem.

Try to enter the device manager, find the mouse device and uninstall it, then scan for hardware changes. Also you can find the mouse driver in the manufacturer website.

If it cannot solve the problem, as much as possible to close the other programs when you running microsoft words and google docs. And try to update windows package.
