"run time error D:\program files\windows media player\wmplay

windows XP SP2 updates are current, AMD 2600, C:\20gig primary drive, D:\40gig partition.

i am getting the following error when i try to play windows media file, "run time error D:\program files\windows media player\wmplayer.exe"

funny thing is i dont get it for all media files i try to play (random maybe) i also get the same error for IE, even though i am using firefox as my default browser,
i have ran nortons AV, ( nortons did find and remove "gert0.dll" PWsteal.banpaes ) spybot, ad-aware, microsoft anti spyware, webroot highjack this,spysweeper, cwshredder, stinger, and all come back clean, did a search in my registry it came back clean also, and here on CNET for "run time error" and i did not see any fixes for this issue.... any help would be apprecaiated, thanks in adavnce .....
