RSS?!

Jul 29, 2005 5:31AM PDT

Hello

I'm usually up to date we all software and stuff, but RSS has passed by me for ages, and I have no idea how. Now I'm having trouble working them.

Firstly I don't have a RSS Reader, and would like to know which is the best freeware versions? Unfortunatly I can not afford to buy one.

Also when I get a reader how do I get it all sorted out? Like how would I get RSS's or whatever into my browser windows? I use mozilla suite by the way!

Mozilla's Firefox browser is lighter weight that the full Mozilla browser, and offers a lot of newer features. With Firefox, you can look at the bottom right corner of the status bar, and if there is a small icon (I believe the default is a blue ribbon) present, the website offers RSS feeds. Just click the icon, and it will give you a list of "subscribe to..." to choose from. Select which one you want, and it will ask you to select a folder in your Bookmarks menu (or create a new one). Once the folder has been selected, all you need to do to check the RSS feeds is look in that folder under bookmarks and all of the current articles will be listed (updated automatically). Then, if you want more advanced options, click here to download "extensions" which will enhance the browser's abilities through tested third-party plugins.

Hope this helps,
John
