Roxio Easy Media Creator 9

Oct 29, 2007 2:22PM PDT

My computer setup is several steps ahead of the minimum hardware/software required for Roxio Creator 9. I'm running Vista Ultimate. Today I bought and downloaded Roxio, but I can't seem to install the package. So far, Roxio.com has been absolutely no help in correcting my problem. Their live telephone support requires an extra payment for support which I don't think I should have to pay for.

I've downloaded the software 3 different times hoping I may have a corrupted download, but every attempt to install results in the same error message. I do NOT have any Roxio software on my computer that I know of unless the Vista burn software is a Roxio product.

The program appears to install correctly, but at the end, I get a popup error message that says "You must install Roxio Easy Media Creator 9 before installing the Content." There is an OK box in this popup that when pushed, stops the final installation. What this "Content" is I haven't a clue. There are no options up to this point in the installation that offered as a choice.

Anyone have a clue as to how I can get this installation to proceed? I would like to use this program, but if I can't get it going, I'm going to ask for a refund.

I'm also wondering if there is a demo out there somewhere for Roxio? I couldn't find one so hence, I had to pay for this crapo installation.

Disable UAC and try again.

UAC no help...

I did disable UAC, rebooted and ran the Roxio installation again. I was hoping for it to work this time, but I got the same error message. I don't know if it's a Roxio error or a Vista error box. When I click "OK" in the error box, the Roxio box only option is to click the "finish" button. The box says the Installshield Wizard is completed, but the installation actually shuts down instead.

I'm going to try to run the installation program on my laptop which has XP Pro to see if it will install there.

I guess I might as well turn UAC back on as it displays an annoying button in my Vista System Tray.

If you have anyother ideas, please let me know.

I had a STUPID attack...

Solved my problem. When I went into Roxio.com to order the software, I had to first pay for it and then it took me to a screen to download the program. For some reason I didn't notice there were 2 files offered and I selected the wrong one (or to be more accurate, I selected the program file that should be installed 2nd--after the main program.)

I refer to these experiences as the "50-50 rule." For some reason, my brain takes the wrong turn most of the time when offered a 50-50 deal and it bit me here again. What really torques me is I downloaded the wrong file 3 times!
